Today we made bug jars. We had fun reading books together. We will be earning pretend money for good behavior. We will be painting today in Art class. We did Read to Self. We had fun reading on the Nook in the Book Nook. We have been brushing our teeth every morning after breakfast. We had a great trip to the Franklin Public Library.

Dear Family,
This week we were practicing our reading. We had fun. We did Read to Self. We read books that we can read that are in our book box. We practice reading so that we can become better readers.
This week in Math we made 10. There are 11 ways to make 10. We made 10 with ten frames and yellow and red counters. We also used a rainbow.
We went on a walking field trip to the library. It was fun.

I am so excited! I have just changed my blog design to go along with my owl theme for next school year. I can hardly wait for school to start. I just went to the teacher store today. I saw a lot of really cool classroom decorations that go along with the owl theme. I'm so lucky to have a job that I love.

Dear Parents,
I would like to thank you for such a wonderful year. We have had so much fun in first grade this year. You should be very proud of your child. They have learned so much this year. Please continue to read with your child on a daily basis this summer. This will keep them from slipping backward during the summer. Writing is also important. They can practice writing letters, post cards and stories. This will help them be ready for second grade. This has been a great year. It really flew by. Have a safe and happy summer.

Dear Parents,
Sorry that we didn't get to write on our blog on Friday. I'm sure your child told you what a fun day we had yesterday. Yesterday we tie dyed our shirts for the Zoo field trip. It was a lot of fun. It was very very messy. Each child was able to dye a shirt. I'm sure the shirts will be amazing. This was a long process. The kids got to play outside at recess while we tie dyed the shirts a few students at a time. Some how we managed to squeeze our spelling test in to our busy day. We had a special assembly to kick off our Right to Read week. He was a juggler and ventriloquist. The students had a great time. They were also very shocked that Miss. Haney, our Title 1 Reading teacher was their substitute for gym class. What a crazy, but fun day! Don't forget to check out the papers that were sent home about all of the fun activities that will take place next week.

We went to the Franklin Public Library. We read books. Some of us got to check out books. We sang songs. We made Miss. Lisa a thank you poster. She liked it a lot. We also planted helicopter seeds. Don't forget to water them! We only have 21 days of school left.

The eagles have all hatched out of the eggs. The eaglets look fuzzy. They are gray. The eaglets are getting big. We had an assembly on Thursday. We saw Basketball Jim Jones. Some people got to do the tricks that he did. He was spinning a basketball on his finger and a pencil. He played Simon Says. Miss Evick won a basketball .
The Anthony Wayne Carnival is tomorrow.

Today we Jump Roped for our heart! We did stations. It was fun. Some of us won prizes. We have egg-citing news...two of the eagle eggs hatched! Today we wrote down ideas for the names of the baby eagles. We finally got to see the eaglets. We got to do Math this week. We also got to go to the Franklin Public Library. We had a great compliment. The librarian said that we had great manners.

This week we learned a new behavior program. It is called Class! Yes! Mrs. Green says "Class!" and we say "Yes!" If Mrs. Green says "Class a doodle doo!" Then we say "Yes a doodle doo!". We are focusing on five important rules. Rule 1 is Follow directions quickly. Rule 2 is raise your hand before speaking. Rule 3 is raise your hand for permission to get out of your seat. Rule 4 is make smart choices. Rule 5 is Keep your dear teacher happy. We are doing much better at following these rules this week.

This week we read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books. We watched Horton Hears a Who. We read Horton Hears a Who. We compared and contrasted the book and the movie. Today is Dr. Seuss's birthday. He would be 103 today. Today we made a Cat in the Hat hat! It was also Ohio's birthday this week. We heard this on the daily announcements. We played soccer in gym this week.

We won the Box Top competition this month. We will have a popcorn party next week. We had 614 Box Tops. We have been watching the eagles. The eagles had two eggs! We watched a video about bald eagles. We made an eagle and wrote an eagle poem this week. We went outside for recess. It was COLD!

We had a Valentine Party. We ate our snacks that we brought in for the Valentine's Day party. We ate strawberries, bananas, apples, pineapple, pretzels and a lot of other snacks. We watched Cars 2. We finally got to play outside for recess. We got a new student. Her name is Faye. Welcome to Anthony Wayne Elementary Faye!!!

We had our 100th day of school. We had a snack. We had cookies that made 100 on our plates. We celebrated the 101st day of school by watching 101 Dalmatians. Miss Evick made Puppy Chow as a snack. We made a prediction on the ground hog. The groundhog saw his shadow. We started our Project Groundhog. We voted on our groundhog's name. His name is Angry Bird. He saw his shadow too. We are going to keep track of the weather in our weather tracking book.

Dear Parents,
We had a great week. We have been very busy with our Winter Benchmark testing. Thank you to all of the parents who came to conferences on Wednesday. I look forward to talking to more parents next Thursday. We will have a fun week next week. We will be celebrating the 100th day. This is a big day for the first graders. Please send in the 100th day projects by Wednesday. I am very proud of all of the students. They have made a lot of progress in the last 100 days of school. I would also like to thank all of the parents for all of the work that you do at home with your children. You are GREAT!

We got working so hard today, that we did not even have time to blog! We were working hard during our writing time to make Jackson his half birthday book. We usually write on the blog during our writing time. We had our spelling test today as well.
